Something different 2005 Excursion

Here's the deal
1. Truck would not start on first sub zero morning
2. After charging the next day (Batteries 1 year old), truck started and had oil changed and plug installed for block heater
3. Now, great acceleration, easy start BUT..... it will not cruise. Once up to speed and let off the pedal she wants to fall on her face and studder.
4. Last year Ford changed the FICM and 2 injectors for the SAME DAMN problem...

Is this thing a lemon or am I just un lucky????

When it does this do you see puffs of black smoke out of the exhaust? More noticeable at lower RPM but higher speed, say 45+ mph?
