Putting a EGR Delete in a 2003 truck

I just replaced my head gaskets and needlessly I found the EGR to be leaking which I tested before I put it back on. I wish i found this site sooner
1) Truck was bought on 5-30-03 not sure when engine was made will it set of the check engine? Can it be turned off if it does?
2) I looked for signs of oil in the coolant reservoir and even under the thermostat housing and found none should I be worried about the oil cooler? It was a municipal truck and I know the coolant system was flushed regularly.
3) When I get this back together how do I bleed the air outta the fuel and do I have to do anything with the oil tube rails? Anything else I would have to do to get it started?

Thanks

Hey bud, did you mean the EGR cooler was leaking? If you delete it and remove the EGR valve that year shouldnt set a MIL on that year. The oil cooler is something that I address when I perform the 6.0L solution procedure or a head gasket replacement. It is better to replace the oil cooler before it ruptures b/c it is VERY difficult to get the oil out of the cooling system once it is introduced. While you have it apart I would replace the stand pipes with the newer versions that clip together.
Once you have it all together simply make certain the batteries are in good shape and cyclke the key a few times before canking the egine over to prime the fuel system. The HPO system will self prime one you crank the motor over fairly quickly on its own. Try not to crank longer than 10-15 sec at a time as not to overheat the starter.
