FICM Test HELP!!
My 06 F-250 (6.0L) cranks but will not start, and from what I've been told I have a problem with my FICM. I followed test procedures I saw on here today and tested the FICM at 48Volts. Key on/Engine off = 48V, Key on while the glow plugs are heating up it drops to 35V, then immediately back to 48V after the glow plugs heated up. Key On, Engine cranking = 48V the whole time. This makes me think the FICM is fine and perhaps it's the Cam Position Sensor. Does the fact it dropped to 35 while the glow plugs were heating up indicate a problem with the FICM? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you, Paul |

no that sounds good.
now the not so fun part. you need to be able to read real time data using something like the dealers use, such as auto enginuity, to be able to troubleshoot this engine. doing anything else is just guessing and is very expensive on these. however, if you want a guess i guess icp, ipr,or hpo leak as those are the usual suspects. |

How can I rule out Cam Position Sensor at this point? I understand that could be a cause and is relatively simple/inexpensive to fix.

Is the "Ford Enhanced Expansion" needed with this scanner? Or will the basic system tells us what we need to know about the 6.0? Thanks.

yes you need the enhanced, this is the cheapest place around to get it AutoEnginuity PC Scan Tool (USB)
