Sounds like the classic 6.0 squeak. Mine did this, and the dealer replaced my alternator under warranty. Two years later, it's squeaking again. *shrug*

I don't know what causes it... something about the design of the pulley and/or bearing, I suppose. Most 6.0s that I've heard have this problem, especially when the weather is cool and humid. I suspect that the problem came back for me because the dealer replaced the original alternator with a similar one (that also develops the problem).

Was this a constant squeak or only a periodic squeak. I am trying to figure out what is squeaking on my truck. Usually after running on the freeway for a while. It happens after I get off the freeway and am coasting around 30 mph I hear a er er er er sound and when I stop it goes away until I get back to about 30 and let off the throttle.

It starts off as a periodic squeak, usually starts in cool humid weather or when it's raining. It develops into a constant squeak over time.

What you're experiencing doesn't seem like it's the same thing. Is yours RPM dependent or vehicle speed dependent?
