egr question

My truck is a 06 6.0 with 130,000 miles on it and i was wondering if i should clean my egr valve or if it would make a difference and if i do clean it will it codes?

pull it out and inspect it. If it is full of carbon, try and clean it out the best you can.

k i hope it helps my truck doesnt act like it used to. with my edge programer it used to have a lot of black smoke and now it doesnt seem to have the power it used to.

check the link again, i put the wrong one up a sec ago. when I cleaned mine it acted a lot different for about ten mile then mess up again. I just decided to pull out the valve and welded it shut, put it back in, and unplugged it. going to do a whole cooler delete when $$$ is a lil better.

Thats the route I've been advised to go...delete the EGR. But I understand it may result in your "check engine" light staying lit and apparently theres nothin you can do about it....myth or fact ?

I have an '04 and my light doesn't come on, but from all the research i have done here it seems that the '04 cel doesn't come like other years do. why that is or if that is 100% true... i personally couldn't tell you. someone else with more knowledge is bound to give their you can get tuner w/ custom tunes that will turn the egr valve off.
