Oil Leak, front of engine (6.0 liter)
I have a small oil leak toward the front of my engine (2003, 6.0l, 83,000 mi). I cannot seem to find the source, can anyone help me? I see oil on the bottom of the engine (none near or around the exhaust manifolds or the rear of the engine) and is dripping from the front cross member. I only get about 8-10 drops a day, but it is a problem. There is also oil around the balancer and the hex plug in the bottom of the front cover. Any ideas or ways to isolate the problem? thanks, Love the truck, runs great, have replaced the ICP sensor, turbo, rear diff clutch plates.

The hex plug you speak of, is the oil pressure regulator for the low pressure oil pump. The best way to isolate the source of the leak, is to clean off the area around the source of the leak, spray it down with Brake Parts Cleaner so blow it dry. Run the engine for a good twenty to forty-five minutes until the leak reappears.
