I'm a newbie here, so hello to all!
I was driving home from work today and when I tried to accelerate onto the highway, the truck died and I can't get her going again. I had to have it towed back to the house, 2 miles. I can hear the fuel pump, and I pulled the cap off the fuel filter on top, and there is fuel. Doesn't sound right that an engine would just turn off while accelerating! I haven't had any problems with the truck until now, suddenly I have a problem. Not sure what the problem is, as this is my first 6.0. It's an 2006 F-250 4x4, bone stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it is my only mode of transportation right now. Thanks in advance! |

you need to get a scanner on it. sounds like a high pressure oil system issue. did you ever have a hard start hot issue?

i never had a hard start hot issue, or cold for that matter. the truck always started right up without a problem. since you said it sounds like a oil system issue, i have been seeing about a quarter size oil spot on my driveway every day, but i couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I guess this is where it was coming from?

It DOES sound like the high pressure oil pump failed.

Yeah if you don't have access to a scanner it probably wouldn't hurt to check the basics before you have it towed anywhere else.

![]() Nope, I didn't quit drinking, but I've backed down a lot... Been two weeks or so since I drank last |

Checking the oil was the first thing I did. Are there any tests I can perform, besides a scanner, to pinpoint the HPOP?
