what does the exhaust pressure sensor do

my check engine light is on ,the code says faulty exhaust pressure sensor what does this sensor do ?????????? i have a loud whistle sound coming from my air box and was wondering if the bad sensor is related to that sound .. the whistle sound ocurs when i let off the throttle or when the auto trans shifts gears . it also make the sound about 4-5 seconds after i shut the truck ... enough time for me to get out and close the door

the sensor has nothing to do with the noise you are hearing, its just the turbo and is normal and can be especially loud if you have a 03-04

that sound you are hearing is completly normal these trucks dont have a wastgate or bov so the air has to go out somewhere

i dont think its normal teh first 80k miles it never made a sound ,now it sounds like a damn tea kettle whistling and its getting very loud ...after searching i found a vid of a 6.0 making the same sound it ended up being a egr cooler

when does it make the sound while its running? what i mean is does it only do it if you get on it some? or just anytime you let off?

anytime i let off the throttle ,,,, i see that alot of guys on here are having the same problem with their trucks also ,,, a few of tehm say the sound is coming from their degas bottle mine is coming from the air filter box ... its going in the shop next week.. i will post what the dealer finds
