How hard is it to change the hpop?
Hello..this is my first post fellas. To bad it's with a problem.lol Hope to get some wisdom here. My 04 6.0 quit on me driving down the road the other day. Took it to the local diesel tech and he says the hpop died. Gonna cost 1500 to fix it. My question is how hard is it to replace? I consider myself an above average shadetree mechanic but thats all with gas engines. Never worked on a diesel before. Is this something that requires special tools or calibrations? Anything tricky or just straight up swap it out and crank it up type of thing? Any help would be appreciated. Would love to save about 7 or 8 hndred bucks.. Thanks

you can do it yourself, the worst part i found when i replaced mine was jockying the turbo around to get it back in place, then there are 2 10 mm bolts on the back of the hpop cover that are a little tricky and when you take the cover off you should also get an o ring kit for your injector pressure control regulator, when you take it out check the fine mess screan inside the bore that it screws out of make sure its clean,i installed a adrenaline hpop because stock pumps have been nown to rotate in thier houseing, as it was 1 of the 2 top bolts on the output elbow was loose and blew the o ring but i put the new pump in anyway hope this helps
