Noisy Turbo

I have an 05 that had the turbo replaced at 70k. The original turbo sounded like it had worn bearings as it rolled to a stop after the engine was shutdown.
The new turbo does the same thing but not as loud. It doesn't seem to be getting any worse with 15k miles on it. Is this normal noise form a 6.0 turbo?
This truck is stock.

What do you mean " sounded like it had worn bearings as it rolled to a stop"

They naturally sound like a jet winding down.

Noisy Turbo

Jake,

Thanks for the response. The best I can describe it, the turbo sounds like a jet engine when the engine is fired up but when I put the truck in the garage where it's pretty quiet and shutdown the engine the turbo, as it slows down to a stop, makes a metallic clunking thunking noise like dry roller bearings. It is only noticeable when it is rolling to a stop. It doesn't squeak or squeal but is making the same noise the original turbo made before they replaced it, albeit, much quieter than the original. When I took it to the dealer they said it would be normal for it to make some noise but since we were next to a freeway you couldn't hear the "Thunking/Clunking". At this point I'm just waiting for it to get louder before the warranty is gone but if this thread thinks it's not normal I will push a little harder at the dealer.

A turbo should never make any kind of metallic clunking or thunking noises.

I took it to the dealer last week. They checked the turbo end play which was in range and said the noise was a normal thing which may be amplified due to the after market Wix intake filter. I explained that the original turbo did the same thing and it was replaced under warranty. Ford will not replace this one until the end play exceeds recommendations for the turbo.
