Quote for EGR Delete installed

I got a quote for of 1000.00 dollars to install a egr delete kit on the truck, parts and labor...Does this sound fair, or am I getting raped. One more question? Would a stuck EGR valve cause the truck to blow white smoke constantly and have no power what so ever, it didnt have enough power to pull it into the garage, it kept stalling..

If the valve was stuck open and the cooler was blown then the coolant would push into the intake and it would blow white smoke like crazy.

we get $1100.00 for our full EGR delete kit installed, including a full oil change, new oil filter and necessary coolant. If we do an oil cooler at the same time, it cost an additional $400.00, labor and material.

Depending on what EGR delete kit they install will say if the price is out of line.

I printed off the EGR delete here on the forum, handed it to my mechanic and he did the full delete for about $200. Included SS hardware - not the hoses listed on the DIY post (though I told him that would be fine with me), all welding (beautiful welds), complete. Couldnt be happier.

I will check on Monday to see what kit they use..I tried to move the truck out of the garage today, and it wouldnt stay running..Every time I start it, it just shut right down. Bellowing white smoke.. So it is staying where it is until the tow truck comes and gets it.

yea..I would drive or start it as little as possible, if the cooler is severely blown(which it kind of sounds like by your description), it can fill the passenger side cylinders with coolant causing a hydro lock situation.

One more thing!!! Would a stuck EGR valve cause it to smoke like that and loose power??? I am just grasping at straws, this kinda sucks a week before X-Mas

normally not a EGR valve, but a ruptured EGR cooler will leak coolant into the intake manifold, then into the heads, then into the cylinders, then out to the exhaust, which is where the white smoke comes from.
