Y Pipe Replacement! HELP Please
I have a leaking y-pipe on a 2004 F-350 Power Stroke. I have the pipe in hand and need to replace it. After looking at the job, I cannot figure put what parts needs to come off to remove the pipe form the truck after it has been unbolted. Any help would be appreciated.

I unbolt the tranny and move it back and take it out from the back under the truck. I just find it easier myself. To take it out from the top ya remove the turbo and with extensions an wiggle sockets an lots of cussin ya can get it out. Or have real small hands, long skinny arms with quadruble joints, or tenacles. Good luck.

Is this an early build '04 truck (with '03 engine) or a late build '04?
I remove the turbo first, then I PARTIALLY lift the cab, in order to gain clearance and access to the pipe. I hope you have the gaskets and new nuts and bolts as well. Having a crescent shaped 10 and 13 mm wrenches helps for access to the exhaust manifold bolts and nuts, as well as flexible joint sockets and LONG extensions. |
