Question need some advise please

Hi all,

This is my first post here and I hope someone can chime in and help guide me..

I have a 2006 F250 4x4 6.0 with 64k miles, the truck is stock with the exception of an Air Raid Air Filter and a SCT live wire. I keep the truck tuned with the 65hp tow tune. The truck is not a daily driver it’s only used to tow an 8.5 x 24 enclosed car hauler with ATV’s.
The truck is in great shape; however during my last trip (approximately 600 miles “pulling the heavy load”) I had to add 2 gallons of water to the radiator. I could not find any external leaks and no water in the tail pipe

I took the truck to Ford a week ago and today I got a call saying the truck needs major work. They say it needs head gaskets and an EGR cooler. In these forums I’ve read it’s better to replace the OEM Head bolts with ARP head studs? I’ve also read something about installing EGR block off plates if possible and today something about Black Onyx Head gaskets????
How should I approach the folks at ford? Do any of you know if the techs will install these parts if I bring these parts to them? I don’t mind purchasing these items if it’s going to give me a much more reliable truck? Are the Black Onyx Head Gaskets that much better than the new ford OEM gaskets?
Once these repairs are preformed, what’s the likely hood of having to do them again?
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks Mike
