So heres the deal...recently my service engine light came on in my 03 6.0. I ran the diagnostics and i got the code for the Injection control pressure circuit low. I did some research and found that i need to replace the sensor and wiring harness. I took it to the local shop and they said that my truck is having this issue becasue im using 15w 40 diesel motor oil. He told me that I need to use 10w 30 super duty motor oil since its a 6.0 and it would solve my problems but to me it doesnt make much sense since Ive been using the powerstroke motorcraft 15w 40 since i got it a year ago. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

was the code p2285? injector pressure sensor low circuit? that would be the ICP sensor and on the 03 it is very fun. its on the top of engine at the very back. so the easiest way is to go from bottom remove heat sheild then pull ICP you need a 1 1/16 deep socket cut down to just barely fit the new sensor in it.
I have ran 15w40 in mine for two years and 40000 miles and i just had the ICP go out. Mine was running like crap and i could barely drive it before my check engine light came on. I dont think the oil has anything to do with it. My buddy had to do his ICP a few months back and he runs 10w30. |
