6.0L fuel pump issues

my father has a 2005 f-450 and it has been to the dealer 4 times in the last 3 weeks the last issue was the fuel pump on the frame rail had quite in the middle of our last snow storm. is the a common problem with these trucks? both my father and i have 7.3L trucks also mine an early 99 with a six-speed and his a 02 with the auto trans. the only problems with mine was the clutch and cam sensor the 02 not one problem. so i was just curious if this was a six liter thing
