So this a question for all the experts out there. So I pulled into my driveway from running around and was letting my EGT's cool down before shutting down my truck and as ut cooled (360egt) it then all of a sudden started to run real rough and the EGT's started to climb rit back up to 480egts. So what would cause that to happen. The numbers on my CTS
ICP 645
IPR 25%
FICM 59.8 tested
VGT 85%
EBP 4pis
Ect 174°
EOT 175°
As the turbo moves to max boost the EGTs get hotter (same when the ac compressor cycles) I bought a turbo timer because I was tired of waiting for it to drop below 400F.
I used to do that but got annoyed that I had to hit 3 buttons on the remote and when 1 min was left the remote would alert me by beeping for 15 seconds. The turbo timer addon to my CTS2 I don't have to think about, take the key out and head inside the only downside is my aftermarket Viper won't lock because the "key" is still in it (I'll be bypassing it soon).
Ok maybe I said it wrong. I just back from a drive and the engine was hot (195°) and EGT's were coming down and so was coolant temp because was sitting and it doesent get real hot driving around town with out a load. I was waiting for it to cool down to under 365°EGT And then it started to climb again. It does this every now and again when the truck starts to lope real bad and sounds like its running on 4 cylinders.
Yeah ok so I am going to try and back flush my cooling system today. I drove the truck from northern Va to my shop in NC last night and the highest the ECT got was 186F. The EOT hit 198F. Is there a way to test Ect Sensor to see if its reading properly? Does anyone know the thread pattern of the block drains?
