could you tell what it was wet with?

If it is wet ,its a good possability your cooler is shot. It should not be wet

alright should just be like a normal egr on any fuel injection car on the road correct? nice dry and look like inside of your exhaust pipe. put it this way u could reach down in that and grab wet "sludge" like s*** out of where the egr sits.

should be dry as a bone. sounds like cooler failier

you think this could cause turbo lag and hard starts?
sounds like the egr isnt opening as commanded , could ty and clean it and see if it rsponds .
couldent it also be wet stacking fr idleing a lot?

well he just drove it 240 miles and stopped in def. dont think its from idling

It could also be from getting oil in the intake from the crank case vent. A little oil will mix with the soot from the EGR and make a sludge in your intake.
