What do I buy ?
Have truck at dlr, they're installing studs, egr delete under warranty.
I have read that oil cooler should be changed after egr/head gasket failure... Dlr says O.C. is fine, but I'd rather start fresh with no EGR, and Coolant filter. I see oil cooler housings and oil cooler kits on Ebay and the like, dlr says oil cooler is 300-400 from them, can I do better somewhere else ? Don't know what to buy. Part numbers ? Thanks. |

You're very lucky the dealer is installing the EGR delete under warranty.
That's basically unheard of from what I understand, you must know somebody or have a very cool dealership. |

you can get a oil cooler (heat exchanger) for around $200-250. A whole oil cooler is around $500. The dealer should only ad an hour or so time to change it.

If you egr cooler failed then the oil cooler should be replaced as well. I would replace it anyway and get a coolant filter to protect the new oil cooler.

Coolant filter from DieselSite should be here tomorrow.
Sounds like like I only need heat exch part of unit, see some on Ebay, but will ask dlr price tomorrow. |
