Sounds like the FICM was bad in the first place...

I will repeat what I said, I think maybe you happened to have a cruddy FICM from the get-go. Sucky. |

I had mine tuned by php and it has done the same. He talked like the FICM was probably bad and was amplified by the heat inducting strategy on the tune. ive got my new ficm on the way to try Innovatives tuning.

As I figured they would ID is taking care of the problem I just need to ship it back to them and they"ll fix it for me.....one more reason why I deal with ID when it comes to electronics. Ted said that sometimes they can be damaged by the shipping.

Due to Ford's older inductive heating strategy, many FICMs have been damaged. Obviously, if enough damage has been done to the FICM already, no new calibration is going to fix the problem. A new calibration will stop the further damage and improve driveability (shifting, throttle response, fuel economy, etc.), but it doesn't REPAIR the damage that's already done.
There's no way we can physically test to see the extent of the damage done due to the old inductive heating strategy. Fortunately, we've only seen this issue occur with just a few of our customers out of the hundreds of FICMs we've reprogrammed. austin, let us know how Eric's tuning works for you. I've heard great things about it!
