Oil cooler replacement- better options?

Well, I have read about gunk getting into the vanes of the oil cooler so I was thinking of finding a better cooler to replace it with. I have run many aftermarket externals but never on a PSD. I would love to find an adapter, run hoses up to a larger oil cooler but have had no luck finding anything of the sort. Is there a way to do this? I would love to bypass the stock oil filter assembly and run a regular external filter and cooler, but don't really want to spend thousands of dollars on doing this. Any ideas or links?

I used the search function, but did not find much.

is something like this good to go for the filter, then add an external cooler in-line?:
