Head studs

So i have been looking into replacing my head gaskets due to the thought that there blown what do you all know about black onyx head gaskets from river city diesel i'm also planning on doing the arp studs i can get tne studs and gaskets for $699 through river city am i thinking right or should i just do the ford oem gaskets and arp studs?

Good question, Mine is at the dealership and I'm thinking of doing the same thing! Any help? ARP with stock gaskets or ARP with the black onyx head gaskets?

i have them in mine, had a local diesel shop, lead foot diesel performance install them no problems yet, he also said it is the only head gaskets he will install. he thinks they are the best on the market. just make sure u get new heads or resurface yours

we sell the black gaskets aswell, $650.00 shipped including ARP studs. $210.00 for just the gasket they are available in 18mm or 20mm we install them on everything that we put studs in, in our shop.

Studs are the way to go, if you are going above stock power/boost. they are more or less mandatory on the 6oh.

I've also been wanting to run 37s on my truck. I see you have them on yours. Few quick questions, is the truck noticably slower now? 6" lift clear 37s? how does it drive compared to stock? and how bad is your MPG now?

yes the truck is slower but not to noticeable i mainly notice it when going around 40-45 it wonts to up and down shift alot. the ride is pretty good i have the rize 6" radius arm lift with the icon resi shocks, i clear 37" with no rubbing with 18x10's and 4.5" backspacing, make sure u run 4.5" backspacing or they will rub. for the fuel mileage i cant tell cause i havnt recalibrated my speedo so my miles traveled are off, and i aint payin 200 for a calibrator, but i would say around 16-18 mpg but i dont worry about mpg it is a truck and i only drive it on the weekends. i did see 20 on dj's street tune on my insights instant mpg i was going about 55 60 mph for 25 miles and it fluctuated between 18-25(but this is still with the speedo off)

Whats the advantages/disadvantages of the 18 and 20?

i think it is for the amount that has been milled off the heads to return it to stock clearances
