New Guy needs help asap
This may seem long-winded, but I want to give everyone all the info that I have.
I bought an 03 Excursion with the 6.0. It ran fine for a few days and then it started cutting out around 2000 RPMs and backfired. I took it to the shop and they replaced the fuel filter, the air filter, the water separator. It was running fine for another few days and then it started up again. I took it to the Ford dealer and they "fixed" it. Said it was warranty work and sent me on my way. A few days later it started up again. I took it back to the dealer and they said that it is a conflict between the aftermarket exhaust on the truck and the stock computer. They said that I needed to either put stock exhaust on it or an aftermarket computer. I purchased a top of the line Banks Six Gun with the PDA. During installation, I found that there was an Edge brand EGT coupling installed but wasn't hooked up to anything. So the previous owner must have had the Edge system installed but took it out when they sold the truck. I finished the installation and the truck ran fine. In fact, it ran AWESOME. Now, a few days later, it is doing the same thing again. I am so frustrated. It seems like if the batteries are disconnected for awhile it resets itself and runs fine for a day or two and then starts up again. I can use the PDA to pull codes and will do that tomorrow to try to get more info. (I already cleared them without writing them down, sorry). I got some help in the introductions forum, but thought I should move this here. I am going to try cleaning the egr valve and will report back. Any help? PLEASE!! thanks, Wigs |

hmm..
my 00 7.3 did that once, flashed it and it wnet away. but my 6.0 i have a few questions aobut for yall.. When we bought it. I was like holy crap this is fast, it ran like a raped ape. i was peeling tired and all then it just went away I got a emisions reflash, and it hauled a** again.. a few weeks later it faded. I dont want a racer, just want ti to run like it did when I bought it. my 7.3 is the racer. my guess is they give it a little fuel at take off so it doesnt smoke.cause it doesnt really move untill turbo builds up. but idk i want a chip to tightenup shift points and 'rid of all emisions stuff holding it back. i unplugged the egr valve,gave it a lot more low end but it still isnt what is was. i dont want a dragger, just want to to run liek it did. maybe a 25 hp boost ok, but not a lot. any chip info please email at ruthlessdirtrider@hotmail.com so i can read at work. ty KEvin Last edited by swampthug; 03-06-2007 at 06:19 PM. Question about your 6.0... do you have any aftermarket exhaust or intake items on it?
