6.0 sounds like turbo is back spooling!!!????

Fellas, I have a friend with an 03 6.0 and the truck once it gets up to operating temp and you go and drive it its like the the truck starts backfiring and you can hear the turbo backspool.. has new oil air and fuel filters. ICP pressure is good. all injectors seems ok.it does it at any speed egr valve looks good and we removed the turbo and checked and cleaned it. my friend is at a loss with this thing right now and we sure could use some advice thanks guys

have you check the vgt connection?
