'05 Won't Run, Tried Everything
The last time the truck ran it only ran on 4 cylinders, won't accept throttle and blows white smoke. Now the truck doesn't run at all. Truck has been to Ford, shows no codes, has new injectors and FICM oil rail plugs and stand pipes 0 miles. HPOP icp checks out, fuel pressure at each cylinder head is good, truck has ARP head studs, no change in coolant level, all diagnostic tests that Ford has have been done. Compression has been tested and well within spec. Engine has approx 68,000 miles and also has an EGR delete kit. Ford has been no help. Also had truck at a diesel performance shop. They spent 30 hours running diagnostics with no luck. Has anyone run into this situation? Need help, truck hasn't run in almost a year.

I don't know where you live. But I know where I would be taking that truck. Right to Scuffy's shop.
BTW Scuffy is a tech on here and works on these things daily. He is good at what he does. He is located in NC. |

Ok, you need a scanner, see this thread, and read the second post by m-chan
just bought: cranking, but not starting, no codes Also does truck have a tuner on it? If so, has it been set back to stock, and or removed for diagnosis? |

Truck is back to stock. We have had the ford ids on the truck and a snapon solas pro.

Ford sent out a man named Tony who teaches diagnostics to the ford techs. After going through the truck he thought it was an injector problem and recommend replacing all 8 injectors and the ficm which i did at a cost of 3000.00 and the truck runs as it did before the change. While apart every thing that could be inspected was .

The injectors and ficm were Tonys first stab at it. We had a hard time getting the ficm to sync and recognize the abs system and ecm. We did try 2 diferent ecms but did not want to reflash another customes parts. I did not want to just throw a new one at it in hopes of that being the problem although with other problems i have had i am leaning that way. before the running problem i had a trans fail but we could find no physical problems when we took the trans apart and had no codes. Also the truck ran with the ids connected and it showed the truck moving at 65mph in drive and the trans output shaft was not turning. You would think that is impossible as the speed sensor is right there. Saved my money for 6 months put in a ats trans and tq converter was fine for 300 miles and then the engine problem. The truck seems to be over fueling or firing the injectors at the wrong time. We even checked to make sure the cam and crank are in phase.
