you need to put a manual guage on the secondary filter port. There is an adapter you have to buy.

cylinder 8 is the driver side rear. The glow plugs are in the rocker boxes right below the valve covers. you can see the black wiring for them right above the exhaust manifolds.
the secondary filter is the little fuel filter next to the oil filter housing in the center top of of the engine right behind the fan. There is a small allen head plug on the housing. You can remove that plug, install the adapter and then connect fuel pressure guage.

ive been told that if you pull the glow plugs and if you find fuel or moisture on them you could have an injector problem, there is quite a bit of oil coming from around the #8 glow plug.... dunno.

when im checking the fuel pressure what things should i be looking for and what is a good normal operating presure?

i was also reading an article in diesel world, they had mentioned that stiction or dirty or the wrong oil can cause the truck to miss or smoke... ? What about the spool valves would sticking valves cause the truck to miss or smoke?

typically if you see oil around the glow plug harnness, it's usually the orings on the harness, or the harness plugs themselves leaking.

if you pull a glow plug and it's wet with coolant, then most likely the glow plug sleeve is leaking. that requires a bit of work to replace.

most of the simple scanners will only pull current codes.
