Powersteering Pump!!

So Saturday night i was with some buddies and I did a couple donuts in some gravel and next thing ya know my steering was gone. Immediately, I smelt fluid so I got out and looked under my truck and ATF was all over the place. Take it to the dealer and the tech said its not covered under warranty...so not only did I pay $130 for diagnostic but he stiffed me and told me it wasn't covered after the fact. Is it common for a pump to basically explode like that? I have 87K miles on the truck.

I was doin donuts in some gravel out by the lake near my house with some friends and next thing you know I have no stearing. I was able to drive it home. Next day I took it to the dealership and they said it wasn't covered...quoted me 730 plus 95 for the flush and I said NO THANKS and took it to a local shop.
It was still about 590 bucks...but I saved some cash. I just never hear about these going out like mine did. The underneath of my Truck is still drenched in fluid and my belt still squeaks in the mornin from the oil. On top of all that the gravel shredded my tires so I had to buy a set of those as well. Great Weekend.

on my 04 the steering would feel like it was going to lock up at low speeds had it look at when the truck was still under warranty Ford said it was normal because of the hydroboost steering my truck had 62,xxx miles on it when my son was trying to back up a trailer when it finally quit the power steering pump locked up sent some metal shaving thru the steering box causing it to quit working. I got the parts from O'reillys pump was $70 steering box was $249

Nope, no pics...I used to work at Speedy on the weekends and was able to order parts at cost so I called up our local parts distributor and he quoted me 55 bucks for the pump but then he gave me some BS excuse that none of the warehouses had it in stock and I quote"I don't know how to get this part for you" is what he said and with my full time time job I commute to San Francisco every day so I kinda need my truck. So I had to bite the bullet and pay full price.
I'm not too happy with the dealership...
