white smoke!!

Well my worst powerstroke fears have happened. yesterday i was cruzin' about 70, got into it to pass a car, made the pass around 85 and let out of it. when i did the pass i relized i still had edge on hi so i flipped it to low as i was coasting back to 70. with in 30 seconds of flipping the switch, my truck began acting as if i ran out of fuel(gauge shows almost half). When i tried to restart starter would ingage but would not turn the motor. I trailered it to a buddies house(about an hour later) and tried to start it again. this time it did start, didn't sound right and white smoke poured out of the tail pipe. i fear the worst and i am out of warrenty. now the batteries are to weak and when i hook up jumper cables they arced pretty big ( pretty big short). Would somthing electrical cause white smoke? do i have more than one prob?
good diesel mechinics are non-exsistant in my small town. will have to trailer to the city later in the week!!!

The first thing I would do is remove any/all aftermarket programming like the Edge tuner you're using.

2005 F350 XLT FX4. 2.5" leveling kit, 03 turbo, 4" MBRP Turbo-back, 58v FICM, SCT X4, Irate Diesel coolant filter

you egr cooler blew out ,need to get egr cooler and oil cooler replaced , the oil cooler gets restricted and causes egr cooler to blow out due to heat , and change oil and filter also ,and if your dealer is picky i would pul the edge off , not that it caused your problem ,but that way you wont have any problems

Too late to remove the Edge, fellows. He stated that he is out of warranty. It sounds like time to cough up some bucks for an EGR cooler.

i see that now ,do not just put the egr cooler on ,like i said before, the oil cooler is what causes the egr cooler to blow out

got to hate that , i just priced the parts , about 1200. 00 retail ,you might be able to buy them cheaper , depending on labor rate ,we charge 10.0 labor to replace those parts ,our labor rate is 85.00 an hour , you might have to replace egr valve too
