My Brothers truck is a 05 f250. When he's running between 65-70 MPH the turbo psi's goes up to 12psi and then falls to 8 or 9. Sometimes the psi drops to zero all while maintaining that speed. The truck also loses power about 20%. The dealer said they were unable to duplicate the issue and could not find any problems.
Any Ideas of what it might be and how it could be fixed?
vanes or controler issues very typical...sometimes will throw a code. Sometimes if it isn't to bad...needing a turbo-controler replacement, a SCT with Cales tunes solved mine.
I have a similar problem, if not the exact same thing. When my rpm's are low (top gear 60-70 mph) and i try to accelerate slowly (without shifting down). I lose power and blow a ton of black smoke. I have a bully dogg downloader and I returned power setting to stock and it still does same thing. Occasionally it will act similar in 3rd gear - low rpms but not as bad as high gear. If I shift down or get into higher rpms all is well.
Does this sound like a turbo that needs cleaning?
I am not capable of doing this myself. Would it be wise to let the dealership do the cleaning?
Or better off at a different service place?
