2006 Rough Idle sound bite included HELP
Hello All, Truck has been idling rough the last couple of days. This is also while the truck is completly warm and after I opened her up on the freeway.
If you take the time to listen, you will really hear the idle fluctuate the last 10 seconds. The noise is behind the injector clatter. Almost vaccuum/exhaust like. BTW, The tach moved very little during this. Please listen to the clip. Untitled.flv video by 2006fordsd - Photobucket |

Get your injectors checked out with a scanner. (Buzz Test and Contribution Balance) Do you have a check engine light? It ALMOST sounds like ICP sensor going.

Can I disconnect the ICP in this case to see if the idle clears up? Thanks again for the help. Edit* Glad you can hear it too. |

That's a chore in itself! And no it is not dealer required but you do have to have a GOOD scanner to be able to do it like Snap-On Modis or Solus, or the AutoEnginuity program for laptops. Autozone or the cheap hand-held things the size of an ipod won't do it. I could just barely hear it. It could be nothing. BUT I find it strange that it sounds uncannily like a 7.3's idle. Which leads me to believe it MIGHT be a #8 injector. But that's jumping the gun without running tests. |
