EGR CEL - Will a tuner help?

I'm considering doing a full EGR delete but I have a concern about my CEL.

Some background about my situation.
1. I have an 04 Excursion - Build date 12/04/03
2. The selling dealer was located in CT.
3. I unplugged the EGR for a couple of weeks. The CEL light did come on.
4. I was not expecting the CEL light to activate since the truck is pre 05.

So here's my questions.

Can I expect that a SCT turner with an EGRless tune will fix the CEL light condition?

Yes sct will get rid of the cel

a custom tuned SCT will take care of the light, just to clarify.
