loss of power

Today I towed my Camper about 2 hours with no issues. Then this evening while just doing normal driving I lost all power. My truck started sputtering and had dark smoke puffing out the exhaust. I towed it home, and pulled the EGR and cleaned it. On a test drive it runs fine when cool for a minute or 2 under power, but always idle fine. If I hold the gas pedal down it will sputter and have no power, then it will take off with a big puff of black smoke. No overheating issues, and all fluids seem fine.

Any ideas? I am 700 mile past 100k so no more warranty. such is my luck. my truck is an 04 excursion 6.0 100700 miles. I usually run aggressive street from innovative, but for the past week I had returned to stock due to towing my camper.
