Long story shrotened...
I have an 03 EX with a 6.0 that was sold to me as a 7.3 (lots more info to that story) and have had the turbo and EGR cooler both replaced once under warranty within 11 months of purchase. The turbo went out again 17 days after the 5 year mark (also within days of the first replacement 12 month warranty). Replaced it myself took a test drive and got 1 mile that's right 1 mile from the house and had a rod take a dump. Sat on the truck for a month just before being evicted by my landlord (he let the house get foreclosed on). While packing I discovered that the dealer I bought the truck from sent me an extended warranty 6 months after the fact (had no idea since I was TDY at the time it came and my wife signed for it). (HUM wonder why??) Took the truck in to have it fixed and got blamed for the issue so the warranty company will not honor the contract. Now I'm stuck holding the bag. The local dealer, not the one I bought the truck from, wants 14300 to replace the block or 8600 to rebuild or I can have it reassembled as it was for 3000 or I can take it torn down for 785 and have the huge dent they put in the left side with the wrecker repaired or take it as is for 0. WT*!!! Oh and this all started on 2 April 08 and Ive been making payments this whole time.
On a side note I'm suing the selling dealer. Maybe someday that will work itself out.
That was the shortened version of my story and now what I really need is advise on what to do with this truck since its dead and needs resurrected badly since my wife and I just had our 6th child. Ive never gone into an engine before and I have no doubt that I could do it but Im lacking serious knowledge and time to get it done.
If I get this thing back to the house what should I do tear into it or just take it to someone and hope I dont have to give my left nut for it to be fixed. (Did I mention that I have 6 kids and Im in the military....translated I'M FLAT BROKE at the moment.) LOL Its sad when all you can do is laugh. LOL
