check your egr valve. does it blow any white smoke before it warms up? The Egr valve problem i had was a sever loss in power and a **** ton of black smoke. If its white smoke and dripping water out ur tail pipe then prolly the EGR cooler

where is the egr located on a 2003 f250 diesel

Right on top of the engine, right in front of the oil filter. It has an electrical connector on top of it.

!
Standing in front of your truck you can see where the air horn goes into the intake. It is mounted directly behind that. It has a connector on the top and 2 8mm bolts that hold it in.

have you checked the exhaust pipe when your truck is running? if there is excessive white smoke coming out of the tail pipe there will also be coolant draining out of it. does the smoking come and go or is it constant? Im not a mechanic but i am going through some of the same problems and my mechanic is explaining everything thats wrong

if your egr cooler is out there should be moisture in the egr vavle

well, I had the same symptoms as the OP and I took my truck in to the dealer uner the 5yr/100k warranty and they ended up replacing the egr valve, egr cooler, oil cooler, oil screen (it was torn) and they had to r&r the turbo to clean the vains.
would have been a easy $2500 fix if I didnt have the extended warranty...... |
