The truck would be at idle and you could hear the turbo in the exhaust very well. Then all of the sudden the sound was gone and it was just like a gasser setting there running. Meaning you could hear just the exhaust coming throught the muffler. It sated that way for about 2 mins. Then I could hear what sounded like the turbo kicking in again. And when the sound of the turbo returns it seems the idle picks up just a tad. While the turbo is making this sound, you can go to the engine compartment and listen to what sounds to me like a faint vacume leak. The turbo sound will be there for about 2mins and then its gone. It's like the turbo stops, the vacume leak sound and the turbo sound from the exhaust is gone. Like the turbo is kicking in and out or something like that... Now if that's normal - I don't know. I will try to have the programmer fedexed up here to get the codes asap. I'm just scared to drive it anywhere with the way things are going...
if the egr valve is opening when it isnt supposed to , it will do that

I hate to sound like a dumb $*!T here but the EGR valve is on the Drivers side at the front of the valve cover right? So just pull it out of the cover and take the hose off of it and see if it rattles when I shake it? If not Replace?
Sorry about the newb ?'s but man I just don't know so I have to ask. I'm thankful for this site or I might be up the ole crap creek without a paddle. Still might be too...lol

your egr valve is right by the oil filter on top of the motor. kinda in front of it. silver with a black top with a connector on top of it. held in with 2 8mm bolts. remove the bolts and twist a little and then hook with a pry bar being careful not to damage anything

Page 38 they show a picture of it. just make sure there isn't any large pieces of carbon on it, and make sure it is closed and that there is not any carbon holding it open

On that popping noise we had a 6.0 last week that was popping (sounded like backfiring) from the air filter area and it was the VGT solenoid. Took the turbo apart and the unison ring had seized up. Cleaned the turbo and installed a new solenoid and done!

OK, after a huge pain in the rear I finally got the programmer up here to PA where I'm working. I have been able to use it to obtain the codes. Any help you can give would be great. The codes and descriptions that it gave are as follows:

P0098 - Intake air temp sens2 circ high
P1000 - Monitor checks not complete
P132B - (No description given)
P2623 - Injector control pressure regulator circ/open

Please guys... any thing I can try or need to do... any suggestions?

Ok the p0098 means that the iat circuit has an issue. not gonna cause it to stall.

The p1000 is a normal code if the pcm has been cleared recently.

P132B is Turbocharger Boost Control Performance Means that the turbo is not achieving the boost that the pcm is commanding. Could be anything from a sticking turbo to a cac system leak to not enough fuel to make the boost. Will not make it stall. but will cause lack of power.

P2632 is IPR Circuit fault. Meaning that something is breaking the circuit to the ipr valve. Could also be shorting to ground or power or a faulty ipr vavle. Sound like an intermittent concern. I believe this is what's causing your stalling. The ipr valve is loosing power and is defaulting to it's naturally open state causing you to loose icp.
