HPOP low Injection Control Pressure

So I just finished running a bunch of tests on my truck, and I have come to the conclusion that there is a leak somewhere in the HPOP system. I am getting readings of about 270-280 psi at about 170rpm cranking. The truck cranks, but it won't start. The ICP voltage is only getting to about .5v. I understand I need at least 500 psi or 0.8v minimum for the PCM to enable the injectors, so there's my problem. My question is, what does this sound like? HPOP failure? Is there a common piece on 2005 F350's that fails? The tech at the dealership that I take it to told me about some clip or something that fails often.

Any ideas? I am going to have to take it down to the dealer to have them "diagnose" it. Thank god for my Auto Enginuity Scantool, this thing kicks ***. Do yourself a favor and get one of things and a service manual, you won't regret it.

Christian

If its an 05 yyou can take the icp sensor out of the valve cover on the pass side and plum air into it. Only put about 10-15 psi take the oil fill cap off and listen for air. If you hear air in the fill tube you have a leak in the hpop system. May be the pump or the connections to the injectors.

The tech was probably talking about the stc(snap to connect) fitting on the back of the hpop. This is a very common failure and there have been two different updates to the fitting. The newest fitting is just a solid block instead of a stc style fitting. If its not that leaking the ipr may not be closing, leak at the top of the injectors, or case to head tubes. Also when you test with air you have to energize the ipr so it closes or all the air will just bypass it and it sounds like a leak. sorry for the long post.

So I figure that it is either the STC fitting, or the rail-to-head tube o-rings. I pulled the RH valve cover off the other night and replaced the o-rings, but they looked fine, I just wanted a little insurance in case one was thinking of taking a dump anytime soon.

Tomorrow I am going to do the other side and get down to the HPOP to replace the STC fitting with the solid screw on piece. I got the STC replacement kit and a TON of gaskets for everything I am dismantling (including all the gaskets to do an EGR delete) from my dealer for $120. I also got one of their diesel techs to print out the latest TSB on the STC replacement for me, so I have the good instructions and torque specs for everything. Hopefully I can have this resolved by tomorrow.
