04 6.0 died and wont restart no oil in filter housing

Hi, I have an 04 6.0 and with 350K miles, recently it started running a little roughf, and then it died while driving and would not restart. Several days later it started again and had oil pressure. I let it run for 45 mins and it worked fine. I shut it off and re started it and it died and now will not re start. I began to tear it apart to check the HPOP but when I removed the oil filter cover the filter was bone dry and there was no oil in the filter housing. I know there is a drain valve in the housing that opens as soon as you remove the filter but if removed quickly there is usually a good amount of oil in there still and the filter sould at least be wet with oil. Any thoughts on what is going on would be appreciated, thanks.

is it a motorcraft filter? if it is another brand, it may not be closing the drainback valve. I would make sure that the filter is the right type and installed correctly otherwise it sounds like it could be an LPOP issue, but I am no expert...

Definatly a LPOP issure, it dosent pump a drop of oil into the filter housing when I crank it over. I am assuming the motor has to be removed to replace a LPOP or at least the motor and cab lifted up some correct?

Remove all intake manifold bolts. Lift intake manifold slightly. Engine front cover and oil pump can be removed as an assembly. This does NOT require engine removal, or cab lifted.

I just had my check gauges light come on and the oil gauge was all the way down. As soon as I gave it a little rpm it goes right back up. I have a bypass oil system on the truck and looked at the oil returning to the oil fill. It was still flowing a little but when I put it on high idle(1250 rpm) it flows better and the gauge goes back up. I check the full flow oil filter to see if it was colapsed and it looked fine. Do yall think I might have a lpop problem or bad senser?
