I always just assumed it was a little extra fuel (unburnt) at start up with the chip turned up.

+1 for black puff on startup. I'm tuned with a stright pipe also.!!

my bad... if your tuned and run a staight piped its PERFRCTLY NORMAL

Like I said, mine only does it on the 140 smoke tune on startup.
