Mine did this, it was the control on the back of the Xfer case, locked into 4 lo and would not come out.
It looks like a solenoid, with wires coming out of it. It was a $700 trip to the dealer.

The part is quite a bit less than that, diagnostics were expensive. You can pull the actuator off, 2 bolts facing the rear, and try to move it manually. If you get it into 2 WD again, leave it alone!

so, i was talking to a guy today who sugessted unplugging my batt and hopefully it will reset the computer. since the shift on the fly is electronic, he figured it would clear it self out? any thoughts or has anyone tried this?

did u have it in neutral and brake applied.

try shutting it off in gear and then turn on the key go from 4 low to 2wd and then leave it in 2wd go back to park and restart. If this doesnt work drive it in reverse in the 2wd setting until it unlocks good luck

yea, ive, tried that about 10 times. i think im gunna check the solenoid and see if maybe its stuck.

ha ha, crazyness. maybe leave the glove box open and untie my left shoe also!! im game to try it, seems like over kill tho. ive driven the entire way around my neiborhood in reverse hoping it will unlock, meanwhile people are looking at me like i have two heads. anywho, i'll post updates and see what i can figure out. hope this doesnt happen to anyone else!! its like finding a needle in a hay stack!!
