steering issue

Over the weekend got the truck stuck in some deep snow and couldn't move either way. I had a buddy try to pull me out with a 97 powerstroke but he just spun. Turns out there was ice under the snow. I tried to turn left and right trying to find something to get would of and nothing worked. Eventually another friend pulled the front end sideways and freed the truck. Right before he did I noticed the power steering pump growling really bad and didn't have a lot of strength. I let it sit for a few hours hoping it just got hot. I drove home and it seemed to work fine till I got home and it started growling again. It also growls bad when I stand hard on the brakes. It doesn't leak sitting normal or under light load but at almost full lock or hard on the brakes it pushes oil out the shaft seal. Doesn't seem to drive weird. Any ideas other than a burnt pump. I was looking at buying a pump but figured Id ask here first. Any ideas, tuck in sig. Thanks yall!
