Front Hubs Smoking?
Today Iwas driving on a road that tends to have a decent amount of mud, so I got out and locked my front hubs in, well after I had gotten through all the muddy parts and was descending off the mountain(only 2000ft), I was pretty hard on my brakes coming down, trying to keep her under 20 because of the giant holes in the road, but Igot to the paved road put her in park and got out to unlock the hubs, and each one let out a small puff of smoke or dust, which one I don't know. I am asking you guys to tell me if it was smoke or if it was just dust from the winter's road salt. The last time I had them locked in was about 2 months ago. And it was a puff of something white, because as I turned the hub it was pushed out like a fan had blown it, so please let me know.
Thanks. -BG06. |

probly steam. you might have had some water round the hub knobies and when you turned them the water driplets hit something hot and steamed. riding the brakes down a steep grade probly heated somethings up a little.
