Question Grinding sounds from T/C area

I just recently installed the EDGE Platinum w/Attitude module. I went through all the set up just like the book says (for once I actually read the directions first). I set the tune to level 1. After driving ~300 miles I heard the most ungodly noise coming from the T/C area, then it went away. The truck would not respond in reverse at first then with some throttle it thumped loud and loped backwards. Then did the same in drive. I drove it and it sounded like it was winding up as I increased speeds. I tried to pull it into 4H just to see and it would not go. The truck is a '06 F-550, 6.0L, 4X4, Steel flat bed with tool boxes, 32,000 miles, no other mods done. Any ideas?

Well I had the Diablo Predator but it didn't seem to do anything but make it smoke a little. I bought the EDGE from a RV dealer that swears by them. I mostly use the truck for pulling my 5th wheel around. The mileage issue I'm about ready to give up on, having 4.88 gears there's not much I can do. I really wish I had my old 7.3 back

Sounds simple enough. That would make 2 different controllers that I have tried and got no results for. What would everyone recommend I buy then? I pull a 38' trailer around 18,000lbs from state to state and use the truck for daily driving in between. I'm averaging 10mpg unloaded. I thought about dropping the 4.88's for a set of 4.55's, any thoughts on that?
