driveshaft issues

so i have finally had the time to take out the shafts on the truck, cleaned them up and painted them up. none of the ujoints feel bad, there is no play/binding in any of them. also there isnt any play in the carrier bearing. i did notice that when they did my lift they had the carrier bearing bracket turned backwards. i dont know if it matters any but i turned it back the way it was supposed to be. i think ill replace my ujoints this next weekend as i havent had the time to go get the tool i need to remove the ujoints yet. i know i should have done it all while it was aprt the first time, but my kids have been keeping me busy at the sme time i have been trying to figure this out. anyone have any more ideas on why i am getting this vibration/drone??

you have to remove the driveshaft, then remove the circlips where the joints are. then they need to be pressed out. they make a tool to do it. alot of peopel use a vise with a socket and hammer but i dont want to chance dinging it up. then put it all together, i know its a bit abbreviated, sorry. hope it helps.

So, its been a while since i did any updates here, i took my driveshaft out, i was going to replace another Ujoint, but noticed that i was able to mount the shaft to a different set of holes on my T-case flange. I did that and took it for a drive, now my vibration is half what it used to be. a lot more tolerable, but still not gone. i think i am going to order me a new carrier bearing and have it removed and replaced, since it has to be pressed off adn back on. i am thinking that the driveshaft being mounted, with the u joints not all lined up may have bneen the culprit and done some damage to the bearing. ill update after i get the bearing done.

you might need a spacer for your carrier bearing, one that will lower your shaft an inch or two, so your drive shaft and u joints will be more in-line. Also, go easy on your sockets if you are using them to pound out your old u joint...I kinda smashed the suqare end on one together and had to take a die grinder to it so it would fit back on the ratchet.

it is already lowered, i talked to one of the techs at explorer pro comp, an they tell me that i am shimmed down too far. i am at 2 1/8 inches, he says that even their 8'' lift kits dont require more than an inch or so drop in the carrier. so i think i am down too far. i will buy their shim kit and install it, then update here what i find.

just take your complete d'shaft to the local driveline shop and have the bearings replaced and the complete shaft balanced. I've had several done for jeeps i've built in the past, it's not that expensive but use spicer parts (in my opinion) they are the the best.

i dont think its a balance issue, its more in the geometery of the driveshaft. i have to get it right before i can start spending money to balance it out. ( if that is the issue )
