4x4 issue need help

i have my 2006 f350 still was plowing a driveway and i noticed my 4x4 light shut off. it has the shift on the fly and hubs are manually locked. i went to turn around noticed light shut off and was stuck. i shut 4x4 off shut off truck and restarted, i switched to 4x4 and it maybe worked for 10 seconds just enough to get out. then shut off again, tried the restarting techique a few times and then it eventually stopped working completely, i tried switching the relays and nothing either. we key on engine off i try switching and no sounds at all. im stumped guys! any help would be greatly appreciated

the Dash light is activated by a series of hall sensors on the shift motor

so if it isn't where it is supposed to be the light will drop out

I haven't read much about one falling out of gear once in the proper location

glad u have manual hubs that way no one will say Vacuum system

and that actually has nothing to do with the 4x4 light on the dash

Saves me typing. Simple google search: 6.0l esof relay

You have to trace the wiring to the problem. The part that makes no sense is the ESOF doesn't change position unless commanded, ie. it should stay in 4x4. So you probably have a wire shorting out or bad switch.

If you are still searching, PM me. I have a 2007 4x4 trouble-shoot repair guide from Ford. It is the same as the Service/Repair manual. 720 kb size. It might be on-line, but I could not find it with a search.
