Grinding/metal 2 metal noise front drive shaft

I could not find a topic that matched the problems Im having.. Driving at 65 mph and it sounded like a box of screws fell into the front diff. It now makes a metal to metal grinding noise all the time and it will randomly stop for a few seconds when going over a bump. When it occurs, the truck pulls left and you can feel a slight drag in the speed. Jacked the front end and spinning the axles (with 4 wheel off and warn manual hubs disengaged) I can hear a clicking noise in the differential. Checked the oil and its a little low but still clean. Should i remove the diff cover and check for damage or is it a axle seal? The dust seals are damaged and not on. the u-joints are tight. Their is fluid on both axle tube ends and the knuckles. Thanks in advance!
