Front drive shaft

Hey yesterday while changing oil i grabbed the front drive shaft and tried to turn it, well it didnt. The hubs were in auto, they work, and the switch was on 2hi. So shouldnt the shaft turn by hand?


Side note changed the coolant filter for the first time cut it open, i was susprised on how little gunk was in it. Mostly just redish black slime,,,,rust? No solid particles or sludge so all's good.
