My Turn!!! esof issue, 4x4 wont engage!

Hey Guys,

I'm in Washington State and we are getting blasted with snow! I selected 4hi and the light comes on and front tires DO NOT spin!!

I've spent alot of time researching on these forums and the internet to get this figured out with no luck. My next step is buying a shift motor for the transfer case!

Here's what I've done so far:

--Checked fuses= good
--Inspected vac lines throughout going to both hubs= all look good
--Installed new esof Solenoid on pass side fender --wasted my money here!
--Pulled both relays = both look in good shape no corrosion
--Tapped on Shift Motor while I had my wife select 4hi in/out to see if motor was stuck = No luck
--AC, and controls work as normal

--When I turn the key in the on position (not started) and select 4hi I can hear the shift motor click/move.So I know it's getting power.
--When I start the truck, put it in 4hi and in park, I cannot move the front driveshaft by hand, when turning off 4hi, I can move it freely, so hubs appear to be locking fine.

I can't manually lock the hubs as I have wheel caps that arent open

So I've narrowed my issue to possibly being a bad shift motor that has power that doesn't shift/engage the driveshaft...

Anything else I missed to troubleshoot??

Big Blue is stuck!

UPDATE!

I tried putting my truck in 4H again and this time really pressed the brake pedal down really hard and I was able to get it in 4h! Thing is, it will only stay in 4hi for a minute or so of driving. I was driving around and then came to a stop and tried to take off and I was spinning the rears only! Put it back in 4h and I was good to go again, repeated this several times each time it would come out of 4h, dash light still on.

Could this be my Hubs? maybe a leak that would disengage the hubs after a minute or so driving?? Or could this be that the Shift motor on the Transfer Case failing or disengaging the driveshaft??

Solution: Get front hub covers where you can turn the hubs in. Or take them off turn the hubs in and leave it. You can not and will not be able to keep the esof working anywhere that you need 4x4 on a regular basis.

Not trying to be a dick, but I work on these things everyday. I have tore everything apart replaced hubs, seals, vaccum motors, lines, etc... etc.. You might get them working for a short period of time, BUT sooner then later they WILL fail again. It is just a poor design nothing else I can really say.

I appreciate the repy!! I plan on taking the truck into Les Schwab tomorrow to get the center caps that are open so I can manually lock them!!! I will also have them check out my hubs to see if what kind of shape they are in, any leaks, condition, etc...
