My auto hubs are stuck locked.
Ok, I jacked up the front of the truck today with it running and with the hubs on auto and switched to 2wd, the driveshaft spins with the wheel. When switching to 4 hi the wheel and driveshaft will not spin. When I switch the hubs to lock the same exact things happen on both wheels. So my hubs are obviously stuck locked. I couldn't feel any vaccum leaks. I havent heard of this, most guys say when the auto hubs quit working they are stuck free when in the auto position. I found some upgraded braided steel hoses which sound like a good idea. Is there any way I can take mine apart and maybe fix them, or will I need to get new ones. I found some Warn replacement hubs for arround $200 but I dont want manual hubs. I like the concept of the auto being that they are free untill you need them. I would hate having to get out of the truck everytime I want to switch to 4x4 so I would probably leave them locked all the time and drive arround getting bad mpg like now. Any thoughts?

4 hi the wheel and driveshaft will not spin ,is because it has to be put in gear???? and when you have it in 2 wd I would think it would turn freely just like your saying ???? and in 4x4 will only turn when put in gear. JER-1 |

good chance you just need to replace your hubs. don't have to replace them with manual hubs.
both hubs on my 08 were bad when I bought it at 108k. Replaced them with new auto hubs, and all is well

had the same thing happen to me. Although I ditched the auto hubs and went to Warn Premiums. Ill get out of the truck for half the cost and ten times the strength. They lock and unlock with such ease also.

This link may be helpful. I think your hubs are the same as the ones shown. Welcome to guzzle's 4x4 Autolock Hub Lubrication Maintenance Web Page
Good luck |

I have previously used the same link when I cleaned up my hubs. I had one that was really stiff to turn. I followed the instructions on that link and have not had any problems with my hubs since. That was over a year ago. I needed to buy the snap ring pliers anyway!!! A Cheap easy fix with lubricants that you use often. Hope it works for you like it did for me. |

Put you rig in 2HI and hubs to AUTO, you should be able to rotate the driveshaft with the truck on the ground. Rotating the tires and seeing the drive shaft turn in 2HI doesn't necessarily mean the hubs are locked, this is why I turn my drive shaft when in question.
