Upper and Lower Ball Joint Replacement

I'm sure there is a how to on this forum someplace, I just can't find it. I have a 2004 F250 super cab and am going to replace upper and lower ball joints and Camber sleeves.

Thanks, Kelly

How to replace your Super Duty Ball Joints - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

That is the best one I found, but be prepared for the fact that it is not exactly the same for the newer trucks (newer than 04, so you MIGHT be ok).
First, you will need "the mother of all snap ring pliers" to get the snap ring inside the hub after you remove the hub locking mechanism. It is WAYYYY back inside there and it has to open fully to get it off.
Next, I actually just removed the knuckle and had to send it out with the new balljoints because the press I had was way too small to tackle them.

There is a seal that goes on the axle stub that has to be pressed on. That isn't easy to accomplish. The seal is HUGE, and it has to go into the knuckle to seal the axle stub to the knuckle.

I seriously recommend that you get a new u-joint for the axle stub and replace those while you have it all apart. It REALLLLY sucks to have to take it all apart a few weeks later when that u-joint fails, don't ask how I know.

Oh, and one more thing.
Ford has FINALLY upgraded the "axle dust seal." That is the seal that goes on the axle tube that always failed and you ended up with the "hula-hoops" on the axle tube. The new seal is supposed to actually work as intended and last for a long while.
