Xtra Rough Ride?

Hey guys, been driving my 05 F250 FX4 for about a month now. First Heavy/Super duty truck but plenty of other trucks in the past. Just wondering if my ride is normal, or rough. When driving without a trailer, its got a very rough ride. Rough enough that I cant drink a cup of coffee (with lid). Lots of hard bounces when hitting rough spots (lots of bad roads in Memphis). Speed bumps are horrible on it. I've gotten my butt airborne a few times hitting bumps (not going fast either). There have even been times that if I hit a bump while in a curve, I might start bouncing a bit & feel like Im going sideways (again, not going too fast). When I pull a lighter trailer, it seems a little better in the sliding feel but still very rough. Heavier trailer seems to make it a little better. I've been up under the truck to see if there is any visual problems, no leaking shocks or anything that looks bent or in bad shape. I havent taken it anywhere to get it checked yet mainly because I kept thinking it was just because it was a super duty & well, its a TRUCK. Just wondering if this seems normal, or if I've got a little rougher ride that might require some work. The truck does have 170000 miles on it & I dont know what upkeep they've done on the shocks & stuff.

Check wheel hub, balljoint play. I'm at 185k actually. If good, then I would try replacing shocks, then front springs if they are sagging.
