Track Bar
I read previous forums about the track bar and found that is keeps the axle from moving and limits "bump steer" What is bump steering?
Recently my truck will not come out of a turn or sometimes it pulls left then right then left. I checked everything out and the only thing I found was the lower ball joint on the track bar had play in it? Is what I'm experiencing bump steering? I'm going to fix the joint in the next day or so but does anyone know if this will fix the problem? Or do I have other problems? Help would be great even if it's just explaining the theory on track bar and bump steering? |

Bump steer is when you hit a bump and your truck steers. The lack of return steering is usually caused by a bad steering gear. The track bar holds the axle in line with the frame. If it's loose you can get excessive play in the steering as well as steering wheel oscillation (rapid steering wheel movement) after a bump.
